Description

Dramaturgical Reading Program

Open to submissions from across Canada, our Dramaturgical Reading Program is perfect for playwrights who are looking for a structured and critical response to their completed one-act or full-length play. We welcome submissions from playwrights at any stage of their careers. After receiving your completed submission, one of our experienced dramaturgs will respond with a report that includes a detailed analysis of your script, constructive criticism, and questions for consideration as you move forward with the next draft.

Interested in having your work read?

Applications are accepted year-round.

Digital submissions are preferred. Please use a standard font (e.g. Time New Roman, Courier) at 12-pt for easy reading. Pages must be numbered, with the name of the play in the footer. Please save your script as a PDF file, with the author’s first initial, last name, and “DRP” as the file title (e.g. wshakeapeareDRP.pdf).

Dramaturgical reports are generally returned in six to eight weeks. Submitting playwrights must be current PTC members.

Playwrights Theatre Centre is a non-producing theatre company. We accept submissions through our programs. Please do not accept cold submissions.

To submit online:

  • Make sure your PTC Playwright Membership is up to date ($25 per year)
  • Complete the application form
  • Upload your script with the completed application form, and
  • Pay a fee of $125 (DRP) + $5 (processing fee) + GST

Please Note: For payments made by credit card or PayPal, a processing fee of $5 per transaction or 4% of the total (whichever is higher) will be applied.

For hardcopy submissions and other questions, please email joanna@playwrightstheatre.com or call 604-685-6228.
