For 10 days, seven playwrights from across Canada will gather for an unparalleled opportunity to write and develop their scripts while staying at the Bonne Bay Aquarium and Research Station. Artists-in-residence are welcomed by the vibrant community of Norris Point, near the Gros Morne National Park on the breathtaking west coast of Newfoundland. This residency supports artists working in English or French, and provides unstructured writing time, opportunities for sharing work in progress as a group, and individual sessions with residency dramaturgs.

  • The play should ideally be in the early stages of development (first draft or slightly beyond);
  • Be available for the whole residency;
  • Be willing to participate in group activities prepared during the residency;
  • For playwrights writing in French, please visit the CEAD website. Please note that the CEAD only accepts applications from their members.
