Call for Theatre in the Wings – Canadian National Ten-Minute Play Festival

We are now accepting submissions for the 2024 Theatre in The Wings Canadian National 10-Minute Play Festival running from August 15-18 & 22-25.

Six of the submitted plays will be chosen to be produced at the festival. Each chosen playwright will receive a total of $300 CDN for performance rights for eight shows.

Theatre in The Wings is an intimate 32-seat storefront performance space in downtown Belleville, Ontario.

The Rules:

1. Playwrights must reside in Canada.
2. Scripts must be written in English.
3. Scripts must be original works by the author.
4. Playwrights may submit up to two scripts. There is no cost to submit.
5. Previously produced plays will be considered.
6. Running time for each play must not exceed ten minutes.
7. The deadline for submission is 12:00 midnight EDT on June 1, 2024.
8. The playwright's name must not appear on the script.
9. Scripts must be submitted in MS WORD or .pdf format.
10. The play should have from 2 to 4 characters and minimal props and costumes.
11. Musicals, monologues and plays for children will not be considered.
12. No changes can be made to the script without the permission of the playwright.
13. Plays will not be recorded without the permission of the playwright.
14. The playwrights' names will appear on all posters and programs.
15. Selection will be made by an anonymous panel of three judges.
16. The judges' decisions are final.
17. Copyright for all submissions is retained by the playwright.
18. Selected playwrights will be notified on or before July 1, 2024.
19. Each selected playwright will receive two complimentary tickets to a performance of their choice.
20. Payment for production rights will be paid in full before August 15, 2024.
