Script Happens is Back!
Saint John Theatre Company’s Playwriting Competition is looking for submissions from Playwrights living in New Brunswick.
Deadline –Jan. 15th, 2025
SJTC is looking for original One Act plays for its annual Script Happens from playwrights residing in NB only.
We will be choosing between 2-3 scripts for production in the first week in June 2025. Only one play may be submitted per playwright. The deadline for submissions is Jan.15, 2025.
Script Requirements:
• Plays must be unproduced i.e., having not been presented anywhere tickets were sold for this event
• Running time limit: up to 45 minutes, no longer!
• Previous submissions may only be re-submitted if the play has undergone extensive revisions
• 1-5 characters
• Keep in mind that the performance space is relatively small, making elaborate sets and frequent scene changes difficult.
• Submissions should include a cover letter with full contact information, including phone number, email and postal address. This is very important.
• Scripts will be given blind readings, so we ask that each submission have the writer’s name on the cover page only.
• Each page of the script should include the title and page number.
Only electronic copies of the scripts will be accepted and may be sent to: submissions@saintjohntheatrecompany.com. Please make sure these are compatible with Microsoft Word. Attention: Act One Committee.
