Description

The Buttermaker House is a new artist residency in rural central Alberta. The house is an antique family home lovingly restored by volunteers as a part of a larger effort of cultural preservation and community building. The house has a bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, and office. It sits on an idyllic property bordered by a meandering river and tall trees. An active and vibrant community welcomes you to community coffee hour year-round and to concerts and art crawls throughout the year. It’s an ideal place to rest, nourish your creative spirit, and create new work.

Artists would be welcomed to make contributions to the fabric of the community. The community hall is often available for music and other performances. Interested artists may have a gallery show or artist talk. Workshops and activities are also welcome though not required. Speak with the manager about any ideas you would like to bring forward.

The residency is in a small rural community and getting around is mostly done by car. There is parking available for residents bringing their own vehicles. For residents without vehicles, arrangements can be made to ensure necessary trips into town for supplies.

Rates are $420 a week
