Description
Balancing Act Canada is partnering with WHEAT Institute for Expressive Arts Therapy Training for another year! Beginning this fall, we will be offering free one-on-one and group sessions for artist-caregivers. Expressive arts therapy combines psychology and the creative process to promote emotional growth and healing. This multi-arts, or intermodal, approach to psychotherapy and counseling uses our innate desire to create as a therapeutic tool that can help initiate change.
Individual and Group sessions are designed for artists with caregiving responsibilities. Individual sessions will be scheduled according to you and your therapist’s availability and will generally run for 6 months. Group sessions will be focused on a theme (ex: new parents) and will run on a predetermined date and time (TBD), for up to 8 sessions. Group sessions offer the opportunity to build community around a common experience. All sessions are free and will be held online. Indigenous therapists are available.
All sessions will be facilitated by student practitioners at WHEAT, under supervision by WHEAT’s staff.
If you have any questions or would like to register, please email Program Coordinator Shira Leuchter at shira@theatredirect.ca
