Description
The Top Bunk Theatre team is seeking an inaugural sketch comedy writing cohort composed of four writers. The successful applicants will be offered a six-month indie contract beginning in January, during which it will be their job to write five to ten minute sketches that will be performed in a show (Top Bunk Tonight) at the end of every month, beginning in March. *

Top Bunk Theatre is an independent theatre company focused on uplifting and producing emerging local talent. We feel that Edmonton has a lot of untapped potential in the up-and-coming theatre community, and we strive to showcase it to the best of our ability in whichever means we can.
We are looking for any and all aspiring comedy writers, playwrights, improvisers, clowns, SNL enthusiasts, and fun lovers galore to consider applying. Anyone is welcome!
Only selected applicants will be contacted for a zoom interview, conducted by Ethan Lang and Liz Janzen. The successful applicants will receive honorariums for their work.
TIMELINE (Subject to change):
January 2024: Finalize writing cohort. Writing process begins.
End of January or Early February 2024: Audition actors. Workshop the sketches in writing rooms.
March 2024: Actors get their scripts. Writers start working on next month’s show. Continue until June 2024.
