Happy Birthday Dear Maggie by Rick Butts is making its Canadian premiere at The Left of Centre Festival in Brantford, Ontario. US and UK productions are scheduled for later this year.

In this dark comedy, Maggie avoids being with her husband as he undergoes risky surgery that could leave him paralyzed for life or . . . worse. It’s her birthday. She spends the night in a hotel with her new friend Aldrin, a theologically trained clown who helps her deal with her feelings about birthdays and accept that sometimes life-saving miracles are weird.
