Megan Piercey Monafu was born and raised in Nova Scotia, and has lived and worked in Newfoundland, Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa. Selected playwriting: Tahiti (residencies with Artengine and Ottawa Fringe), Strata Inc. (Corel Endowment for the Arts Award 2019, undercurrents festival 2021, Artengine 2023, STAGES Festival 2024), and Mabel’s Last Performance (Atlantic Fringe Best Female Performance 2014). Megan also works as a director and intimacy director*, recent credits include This is the August (Young Prince Collective/Summerworks 2016), Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet)*, The Unplugging*, Forever Young*, Heartlines*, and Lo, Or Dear Mr. Wells* (Great Canadian Theatre Company 2019-2024). She holds an MFA in Creative Writing with a playwriting focus from the University of Guelph, and a BFA in Theatre and Development from Concordia University. Megan is the Artistic Director of the Ottawa School of Theatre, where she directs large-scale intergenerational plays.
