Armin Wiebe
Winnipeg writer Armin Wiebe’s first play, The Moonlight Sonata of Beethoven Blatz, premiered with Theatre Projects Manitoba in 2011. A second production followed at Station Arts Centre in Saskatchewan in 2016. Armin’s second play, Wine and Little Breads, received a staged reading at the Carol Shields Festival of New Works in 2018 and an Honourable Mention in the 2019 Herman Voaden National Playwrighting Competition. His new play, The Recipe, will premiere at Tom Hendry Warehouse in November 2024 in a co-production between Theatre Projects Manitoba and Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre.
Armin Wiebe has published five books of fiction set in mythical Gutenthal: The Salvation of Yasch Siemens, Murder in Gutenthal, The Second Coming of Yeeat Shpanst, Armin’s Shorts, and Grandmother, Laughing. Tatsea, set in Canada’s subarctic, was awarded the McNally Robinson Book of the Year Award and the Margaret Laurence Award for Fiction.
