Simon was born and raised in Hong Kong. He emigrated to Canada where he graduated from McMaster University. After a sojourn in New York, he became immersed in live, professional theatre as a director at Canadian Stage, the Banff Festival and assistant director at The Stratford Festival. He won the National Playwrights award for Running Dog, Paper Tiger. His plays have been produced on CBC Radio, the Arts Club theatre and Gateway Theatre. Simon has also been artistic director at the Lighthouse Festival in Port Dover, Ontario and the Gateway Theatre, Richmond BC. Simon’s 2016 novel House of Wives was a Globe and Mail bestseller and the 2023 sequel House of Daughters, won the Vancouver Jewish Book award.
