J. Ivanel Johnson

J. Ivanel Johnson is the pen name for an award-winning author/poet/playwright with (dis)Ability who now resides in the remote Appalachians of New Brunswick, CAN. Many of her shorter works can be found published in numerous literary journals or anthologies with two traditionally-published mystery novels winning accolades through 2023-24. With co-written theatre works previously produced in the USA and UK, her most recent full-length historical musical ‘Rough Notes’ was professionally workshopped in 2022 thanks to winning a Canada Council for the Arts grant, and a recent environmental play ‘Unplanned Planet’ was chosen to be performed in June 2024 in London, England. Two one-acts (a farce and a comedy-suspense, see PGC’s PLEDGE) are also having rehearsed readings performed in London, UK in 2025. Her former theatre students are currently appearing in feature films, television and on Broadway/West End/Stratford, with two of them using Johnson’s original monologues as audition pieces.
