David Edney
David Edney’s translations of French plays have been performed in professional, community and university theatres in Canada, the U.S.A., and the United Kingdom. His work has appeared at the Stratford Festival, the Shaw Festival, the Citadel Theatre and the National Arts Centre. Eleven of his scripts have been published, and one has been broadcast nationally on CBC radio. In addition to classical authors, David has translated contemporary French playwrights; Olivier Py directed David’s translations of two of his scripts in Edinburgh and New York. David is now translating from Spanish and Italian as well as French. David Edney is an emeritus professor of French at the University of Saskatchewan. He has worked as a professional actor, directed student productions, and is a member of the Canadian Actors Equity Association, ACTRA, PGC, and the Literary Translators Association of Canada.
