Alexis Diamond

Based in Tiohtiá:ke / Mooniyang / Montreal, Alexis Diamond’s multidisciplinary practice encompasses theatre, installation-performance, opera, musical theatre, translation, curation and dramaturgy. Her French-language play NZINGA, co-written with Marie Louise Bibish Mumbu in collaboration with Tatiana Zinga Botao, was recently produced at Montreal’s Centre de Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui. THE PERFECT SCREW, her opera created with Abigail Richardson, was nominated for a Dora Award. AMARYLLIS AND LITTLE WITCH (Playwrights Canada Press), two plays by Pascal Brullemans, garnered a Governor General’s Award nomination. Alexis has served as co-artistic director for the Festival du Jamais Lu and literary manager for Erin Hurley’s SSHRC-funded research into the history of Quebec’s English-language theatre. Alexis’ various works have been supported by grants from the Canada Council, CALQ and CAM, as well as by the Kone Foundation (Finland). Alexis has a B.A. Honours in English and Creative Writing from Concordia University and an M.A. in English Literature from the Université de Montréal.
