Romeo Ciolfi is a graduate of York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Screenwriting and Playwriting. His screenplay PLAY BALL was a winner in the Kairos Prize in Screenwriting where he was awarded a $15,000 Prize. His screenplay THE GREAT SURRENDER has taken top honors at Page International Screenwriting Awards and Story-Pros Awards Screenplay Contest. A PROMISE I MADE TO MR. BAGELS won the Wiki Screenplay Contest. The style and themes explored in Romeo’s plays are similar to those from some of his favorite playwrights like Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Tracy Letts and Samuel D. Hunter. Selective plays include: OVERTIME (Toronto Fringe), BLUE (The Village Playhouse), STILLBORN (Annex Theatre), THE RUGGED CROSS (Solar Stage) and SUNNY NIGHTS (Alumnae Theatre). His play ANIMAL was a finalist in the Herman Voaden National Playwriting Competition. On his website Studio Speranza, he blogs about life, writing and the productions of his work.
