Pedro is a Latinx-Canadian director, playwright, & performer who was born and raised on treaty 8 territory (Chetwynd, BC) and currently resides on the unceded and traditional land of the Qayqat people (New Westminster) and creates on the lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (Vancouver). As a playwright his works include Peace Country, Made in Canada: an agricultural song cycle, Mís papás and Small Town Hoser Spic. He attended Douglas College and received his BFA in Theatre Performance from SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts. Pedro was the Artistic Resident at Neworld in 2014, guest curator of the 2018 rEvolver Festival, and was one of the playwrights in the 2019 Playwright’s Lab in Banff. Pedro is a founding member of CALTAC (The Canadian Latinx Theatre Artist Coalition). In 2021 Pedro was the recipient of the SFU Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology’s Young Alumni Award along with rice & beans co-founder Derek Chan.
