PLAYWRIGHTS / IN THEIR OWN WORDS
An event series for artists and audiences alike, WORDS IN PROGRESS gathers a frisky cross section of playwrights to read selections from their latest plays in development. With plenty of room for conversations, questions, and the occasional debate, you’re invited to cozy up for an afternoon amongst artists, gaining rare and entertaining insight into the creative process and a sneak peek into what’s next for some of Canada’s most exciting writers. It’s live, it’s local, and it’s your front-row seat to stories being born.
Hosted by playwright and curator LOUISE CASEMORE (Undressed, GEMINI), featuring readings of new plays from VERN THIESSEN (Shakespeare’s Will, Einstein’s Gift, Icemen), DANIELA VLASKALIC (Sleight of Mind, Mules, Drowning Girls with Beth Graham and Charlie Tomlinson), and CONRAD BELAU (The Brightest Most Shiniest Star You Ever Did See), with special guest actor/director KATELYN MORISHITA!
Presented with generous support from the Playwright’s Guild of Canada PlayConnect program, and One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo.
