About the Playwrights:
Vishesh Abeyratneis a Sri Lankan-Canadian playwright and poet. He has served as playwright-in-residence at the Great Canadian Theatre Company and as Literary Manager at Teesri Duniya Theatre, where he facilitated the Fireworks Playwrights’ Mentorship Program from 2022 to 2025. His plays include Exposure (published by YouthPLAYS), Blood Offering, White Lion, Brown Tiger, The Agony Market, Immolation Variations, and On the Horns. His poetry has been published in Bywords.ca, Flo Literary Magazine, Montreal Serai, and on Instagram at @visheshabeyratne82. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences at the University of Western Ontario.
Francis Urias Peters: A graduate of the Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts (Jamaica). Playwright, Theatre Director, Folklorist, Storyteller, Theatre-in-Education Consultant. Co-Founder of the LaBoucan Training Centre and present Artistic Director & Resident Playwright for the Creative Arts Division of LaBoucan Training Centre in Grenada. Has written extensively for the Stage and Radio: themes focused on are Folk lore, Historical, Social, educational, environmental issues, musicals and comedy. WHAT’S TOUR VERDICT, a courtroom drama that influenced new legislation enactment in Grenada on INCEST in the early nineteen nineties. Another major production was REDEMPTION TIME, a play on the 1979-1983 Grenada Revolution. Radio Drama Series, OLIVIA’S CRY (1999) (a series on Child abuse) and SHADOWS OF DARKNESS (2007) (a series on HIV/AIDS & Gender Issues) won the MOST OUTSTANDING ENTRIES at the Pan American Caribbean Media Health Awards For Excellence in Health Journalism. National appointed Grenadian Cultural Ambassador and holder of another national award (THE CAMERGHONE (cam-mar-horn) AWARD) For meritorious service to Grenada. Continues to play an active role in Grenada’s Cultural landscape through theatre Arts Training.
