About the Playwrights:

Scott Garland is a German born, Alberta raised, Toronto based performer and writer. With a BA from the University of Alberta and an acting diploma from George Brown college. He’s the international playwright of Half A League / Juriš lake konjice (Scena Sisak – Croatia) and an internationally toured stage performer (3 men in a boat – Tata LitLive Mumbai India ‘14). He is the former host and curator of Toronto’s celebrated new works staged reading series Sing For Your Supper (The Storefront Theatre). Scott also produced the Toronto premiere of Louise Casemore’s Gemini and the award winning Frankenstein(esque) with his puppet company Silent Protagonist. You can catch him on select episodes of Let’s Go Luna, Workin Moms, Mayor of Kingstown, Murdoch Mysteries, and Titans. And hear him on all three seasons of Winston Rowntree’s award winning People Watching.

Roger Joshua Venzal earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a certificate in Human Resource Management, from the University of St. La Salle (USLS). He is an alumnus of the USLS Maskara Theatre Ensemble and a board member of The Performance Laboratory, Inc. 

He serves as Executive Assistant of the Negros Cultural Foundation, Inc. and has been involved in various cultural and creative initiatives in collaboration with the Province of Negros Occidental, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Grants Program. 

Roger has participated in numerous theater training programs focusing on acting, voice and movement, playwriting, applied theatre, and directing. 

In 2017, he received the Outstanding Student in the Field of Performing Arts and the Corps D’Elite Award, as well as the USLS Institutional Award for Culture and the Arts. His plays have been featured in the Kuris Theater Festival, Virgin Labfest Visayas, Likhandula at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, and the Manila International Performing Arts Market at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. In 2025, he was selected as a Fellow of the IYAS La Salle National Writers Workshop. 

As a writer, he explores themes centered on contemporary social issues, family, and history. 

He is currently the Artistic Director of the USLS Santermo Writers Guild.
