PGC members have been paired up with an international playwright to share their work and discuss the craft of playwriting with one another. You can tune into these live events and get a glimpse of what these theatre creators have been up to!

About the Playwrights:

Daniel Macdonald is an award-winning playwright and creator/educator. Plays for grownups include Iago Speaks, Blow Wind, A History of Breathing, Velocity, MacGregor’s Hard Ice Cream and Gas, and Pageant and have been produced across Canada, The U.S., and U.K. For young people, he is the author/co-author of The Romeo Project, These Things I Know, Radiant Boy, HERE, and Blind Love. He is the writer-in-residence for the Healing Arts program at St. Paul’s Hospital and has been the co-ordinator/dramaturge of New Voices at Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre. He taught high school and university classes for over 20 years and holds an MFA in directing and M.Ed as well as a BA in philosophy and a B.Ed. His plays are published by Playwrights Canada Press and Bloomsbury Books (UK). He lives on Treaty 6 territory (Saskatoon, SK. Canada) with Melanie, Xavier, little Augie, and Fenster The Cat.

Anders Duus is a Swedish playwright, educator and dramaturg, based in the town of Strängnäs. He has been working professionally as a playwright since 2003, writing for children, young adults and adults in about equal measure. Duus has written close to 50 plays, staged all over Sweden in theatres like Riksteatern, Dramaten, Örebro Teater and Östgötateatern. Several of his plays have also been staged abroad, in Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Finland and other places. He has worked as dramaturg at Riksteatern and Örebro Teater. 

Since 2023 Duus is head of the bachelor program for playwrighting at Stockholms konstnärliga högskola (SKH). He is also teaching writing at the master program. 

Duus grew up in Åmål, a small town close to the Norwegian border, which influences a lot of his work. Most of Duus’ plays have been aimed at audiences outside the biggest cities, written for regional theatres and touring companies, in plays where the rural outlook, humor and strong form are key ingredients. 

Duus is at the moment combining teaching with writing a libretto for The Royal opera in Stockholm, and a full length historical play for SMOT in Jönköping.
