About the Playwrights:

Peter N Bailey graduated from the Humber College Theatre Performance Program in 2003, and has continued to work as an actor. He officially started writing plays in 2011. He’s been a part of Obsidian Theatre’s Playwrights Unit in 2012 and 2016 where he worked on his first play Tyson’s Song. In 2024 Tyson’s Song was produced by Pleiades Theatre, and received a Dora Mavor Moore award for Outstanding New Play in the Independent Theatre Division. Peter is also a graduate of the Patsy Rodenburg Academy for voice coaches.

Kendel Hippolyte: Born in St. Lucia in 1952, he is best known as a poet but has also established himself as an innovative playwright and director, directing scores of plays and authoring twelve, some of which are published in anthologies. In 1984, he co-founded the Lighthouse Theatre Company, which for 18 years owned its space and delivered a programme of productions and workshops. He has long been involved in all aspects of theatre, including serving for many years as a Theatre Arts external examiner for the Caribbean Examination Council. 

Since his retirement in 2007, he has used his skills as a writer and dramatist in radio and television drama as well as live theatre to raise public awareness about issues such as constitutional reform, HIV/AIDS and climate change. Most of his plays engage in socio-political critique and sometimes are followed by immediate post-production discussion with the audience. He believes theatre is the most effective of the arts in provoking dialogue on socio-political issues.
