PGC members have been paired up with an international playwright to share their work and discuss the craft of playwriting with one another. You can tune into these live events and get a glimpse of what these theatre creators have been up to!

About the Playwrights:

Meredith Taylor-Parry was born in Salisbury, New Brunswick. She taught elementary school in rural Nova Scotia before moving to Calgary and pursuing a BFA in Drama, then an MFA in Playwriting at the University of Calgary. She has worked as a playwright, actor and voiceover artist, voicing projects for radio, television and numerous Anime series. Her plays include Survival Skills (Winner New Works of Merit Playwriting Contest 2013), Book Club (Betty Mitchell Award Best Ensemble 2016), Shark Bite (Carol Bolt Award Nominee 2023), Book Club II: The Next Chapter, Devices and Jumpy and the Frog. Her work has been produced by Lunchbox Theatre, Alumnae Theatre, The 13th Street Repertory Theatre NYC, Sandbox Children’s Theatre and Wagonstage Children’s Theatre. She has recently enjoyed working as a librettist for Calgary Opera’s Let’s Create an Opera program in local elementary schools.

Uma Nada-Rajah is a playwright of Sri Lankan heritage born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and based in Kilbarchan, Scotland. She is a winner of the inaugural Kavya Prize and the New Playwrights Award from Playwrights Studio Scotland. She is one of the BBC’s Scottish Voices and was the Starter Female Political Comedy writer-in-residence at the National Theatre of Scotland.  

Uma is a graduate of École Philippe Gaulier and a previous participant of the Royal Court’s Young Writers’ Programme. Her play BLACK HOLE SIGN had its premiere at the Traverse Theatre in October 2025, followed by a run at the Tron Theatre., Her play EXODUS premiered at the Traverse Theatre during the Edinburgh Festival in August 2022. Both have been published by Faber & Faber. She also works as a staff nurse in intensive care for NHS Scotland.
