About the Playwrights:

Jennifer Wynn Webber is a writer who often finds her imagination captured by characters who discover new worlds of understanding and possibility for their lives once they start questioning assumptions about who they are. Jennifer grew up in Saskatoon, but has also lived in Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, and now Vancouver Island (Nanaimo/Snuneymuxw). She is the author of numerous plays including Beside Myself, With Glowing Hearts, and White Lies/Whistling at the Northern Lights. Her novel, Defying Gravity, was published by Coteau Books and nominated for three Saskatchewan Book Awards including Book of the Year. Jennifer has taught writing, worked as a dramaturge and as a professional actor at theatres across Canada. She has also worked extensively in broadcast journalism and video production.

Mia Törnqvist: I was born in Stockholm in 1957. I lived in Italy and studied language and literature before entering the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts where I graduated in dramaturgy and playwriting, 1990. Since then, I have worked as a playwright and dramaturg both as freelance as well as employed at institutional theatres. Some of my plays have focused on society and politics, others have been based on my personal experiences focusing on relations and existential matters such as death and love. Altogether 28 plays performed in Sweden and some in other countries. As a dramaturg I have translated many plays from Italian, English and Norwegian, as well as adapted classics. I have directed several of my own plays, most recently at a smaller theatre in Stockholm. From 2001 to 2022, I held a part-time position as head teacher on the playwriting course at the Dramatic Institute/Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. I have held workshops for playwrights in international projects, in Palestine, Lebanon, Bangladesh, and Macedonia. Since 2017, I have been running my own courses/workshops in playwriting in Italy.
