PGC members have been paired up with an international playwright to share their work and discuss the craft of playwriting with one another. You can tune into these live events and get a glimpse of what these theatre creators have been up to!

About the Playwrights:

Christopher Morris is an actor, playwright and director and the artistic director of the Toronto-based theatre company Human Cargo. His most recent play tremblements premiered at Montréal’s ESPACE GO in November/2023, a French-language collaboration between Human Cargo and Québécois theatre artists. The Runner premiered at Theatre Passe Muraille in 2018 to critical acclaim winning three Dora Mavor Moore Awards including Outstanding New Play and has been touring across Canada since. Other credits include: Our Beautiful Sons (Blyth Festival); The Road to Paradise (co-playwright with Jonathan Garfinkel – Human Cargo/Crow’s Theatre/Buddies in Bad Times); Night (Human Cargo/National Arts Centre) and Return: The Sarajevo Project (co-playwright, Dora nomination). His current play The Ghosts of Mariupol was researched/created in Ukraine and will premiere at Crow’s Theatre (Toronto) in their 2026/27 season. Christopher is the recipient of the Canada Council’s 2012 John Hirsch Prize for emerging directors and the 2005 K.M. Hunter Award for Theatre.

Meredydd Barker was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales to a singer songwriter mother and a craftsman father. To most he is known as Med. In the early nineties Med lived in London where he trained at the St Martins College of Art. He then moved to Liverpool where his writing career began (Med doesn’t believe in ghosts but is convinced that Liverpool is haunted). He now lives in Narberth, west Wales with his wife, Cherylee and springer spaniel, Non, both of whom he loves unconditionally. Med’s been very lucky in his education and in the array of inspirational people that he has worked with. Through Narberth Youth Theatre – co-founded with Cherylee – he passes on what he has learnt to young adults but is convinced that he learns more from them. Med is working on his relationship with the rest of the world through his writing. His current projects include a series of love sonnets about a local serial killer, a screenplay version of his play, Nye & Jennie called She gave them Fire; and a Cold War play centred around an American Navy sonar station on the West Walian peninsula and its relationship with the locale and the locals.
