PGC members have been paired up with an international playwright to share their work and discuss the craft of playwriting with one another. You can tune into these live events and get a glimpse of what these theatre creators have been up to!

About the Playwrights:

Sarah Segal-Lazar is a multifaceted writer, director, and producer whose work has earned national acclaim. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, her play The Barely Wives Club was a finalist for Red Bull Theatre’s Short New Plays Festival and has since been produced across Canada. Her award-winning immersive musical Talk, Mackerel enjoyed runs in NYC and Montreal. Don’t Read the Comments won the Segal Centre’s award for Best Local Company in 2018 and has had five remounts across Quebec and Ontario. Other highlights include In Memoriam (Montreal Gazette’s Best Plays of 2014), Bagages (French) at Festival du Jamais Lu, and her award-winning short film Elvira, which is now on the festival circuit. Zizi Majid is a playwright whose plays advocate for a shared humanity. She is the inaugural recipient of the Julia Miles Playwriting Residency (WP Theatre) during which she wrote the play Milk. She was a 2022-23 Playwriting Fellow with the Dramatists Guild Foundation and is a proud alumni of the WP Lab. She won the Pacific Rim Prize for Playwriting (Kumu Kahua Theatre / University of Hawaii Manoa Playwriting Contest), has been a finalist for the Princeton Arts Fellowship, a finalist for the Blue Ink Playwriting Award; a thrice semi-finalist for the O’Neil National Playwrights Conference and a finalist for the Columbia@Roundabout New Play Reading Series. Plays include They Came in the Night, Return to Fall, The Rejects, and How to Gild an Eagle. For five years, Zizi was the Artistic Director of Teater Ekamatra (Singapore) garnering multiple awards during her tenure. She teaches playwriting and drama in context at Syracuse University.
