A Paisley Mind

June 7 - June 15

Half Twin Theatre is thrilled to return for the fourth year in a row at the St.-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival with its debut production, written and performed by Gabrielle Banville.

First staged in 2022 (and Frankie-nominated!), ‘A Paisley Mind’ remounts with new life after dramaturgical support from Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal.

Synopsis: Marie-Claire is 85… and 11, and 33… As waves of her past and present crash together, three people are her only anchors: her son, her first queer love, and her husband. A bilingual solo show about dementia, ‘A Paisley Mind’ poignantly asks: when your memory fades, who will you remember?

Running from June 7 to 15 at the Studio Jean Valcourt du Conservatoire.

“A heartfelt monologue… Edith Piaf songs, a mixture of English and French and perhaps even contributions from Banville’s relatives add texture and an authentic touch to this Montréal piece… [The audience] was thrilled with Banville’s magical transformation into an 85-year-old woman. And rightly so.” – Faith Langston, Westmount Magazine

Honouring those who have inspired ‘A Paisley Mind’, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Société Alzheimer de Montréal, an organization that alleviates the social and personal consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders through the development and delivery of leading-edge intervention, care and support services in Montreal.

This is a Canadian Actors’ Equity Association production under the Festival Policy.
