Yael’s formal training includes the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California and HB Studio in New York. Her short play, Nice To Meet You, was selected for the Makor Ten Minute Play Festival in 2005 and received a staged reading at the 92nd Street “Y” in New York. Nice To Meet You was produced in Toronto by the Cabbagetown Theatre Company in the 2010 version of No Sweetheart Required. Yael’s play, Windows, Walls and Doors, was successfully produced at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2007. Her play, Legs Crossed Hands On Your Lap, was a successful production at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2015. Yael participated in Canadian Playwrights Guild’s online play reading series, Craft Bites, reading a scene from her full-length play Carol Goodman Is Still Single in January, 2021. A scene from her new short play, Cold Feet, was performed online at Rattlestick Theatre in New York as part of their monthly event, OPEN PLAY in April 2021. She was part of the Senior’s Writers Unit at Tarragon Theatre from September to December, 2025. A scene from her latest play, Frayed, received a reading at the Tarragon Theatre Extra Space.
