Melanie Stevenson is a playwright and actor born to a Manitoban mother and a Montrealer father. She frequently uses comedy and/or thriller tactics to explore socio-political issues intersecting with the lives of women. Her plays include A Little Bite of Paradise (thriller, motherhood, class, addiction), Recipe for A Riot Grrrl (comedy, aging, punk), Brontësaurus (satire, ageism, racism, British period drama), and Mad (satire, Joan of Arc, sexism, anger vs. mental illness). Her monologue “Linda Griffiths” is included in Shadows in the Nooks, a show comprised of monologues celebrating women in Canadian theatre. Melanie is also a Toronto Arts Council grant winner and has a Ph.D. in English Literature (drama) from the University of Toronto. She currently lives in Tkaronto/Toronto.
