Stephen Allred is an Edmonton-based playwright, actor, director, and occasional dentist. He was born and raised in Brooks, Alberta, and relocated to Edmonton for his post-secondary education at the University of Alberta. He’s known for co-writing original horror-comedy musicals, and for being the co-founder of Straight Edge Theatre in Edmonton. Many of his previous works have been featured at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival including Cult Cycle, Imaginary Friend, and Conjoined, the latter two of which he also directed. His Sterling Award nominated musical Krampus: A New Musical was featured in Workshop West Playwrights Theatre’s 2024/2025 season, which he also choreographed and directed. Stephen has been nominated for the Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards on multiple occasions including for Outstanding Fringe Production and Outstanding Fringe New Work for his original works Conjoined: A New Musical and Krampus: A New Musical, which also was nominated for Outstanding Fringe Director.
