Michael Man is a multifaceted theatre artist. Born and raised in Hong Kong, lived in Vienna and Taipei, based in Toronto, he has worked as an actor for over 10 years, spending four seasons at The Shaw Festival. His debut as a playwright was his adaptation of The Orphan of Chao premiering at The Shaw’s 2024 season.
As an educator, he co-led George Brown College’s Period Study teaching Yuan and Ming Dynasty Theatre, and co-facilitated Cahoots Theatre’s Crossing Gibraltar program promoting arts with refugee and newcomer youths. As a producer, he was the General Manager for fuGEN Theatre. He sits on the Program Advisory Committee for George Brown Theatre; and serves as Board of Directors Co-Chair at Buddies in Bad Times. Before theatre, he studied to be a classical pianist, and was awarded third and first prize in junior divisions of Puigcerdà Music Festival (Spain), and Concours Musical de France, respectively.
