Ann-Marie MacDonald
Ann-Marie MacDonald is a novelist, playwright, actor, and broadcast host. Her work has been honoured with numerous awards, including the Chalmers, the Governor General’s, Gemini, Dora Mavor Moore, Gascon-Thomas, and Canadian Authors’ Association Award. Her works for the stage have been produced by numerous theatres in Toronto as well as by the major regional theatres across the country and by both of Canada’s major festivals, the Shaw and Stratford Festivals. Her highly acclaimed novels have been national and international bestsellers, and her debut novel Fall on Your Knees was adapted for the stage. Ann-Marie MacDonald was born in Germany, and is Canadian of Lebanese and Scottish descent. She graduated from the Acting Program of the National Theatre School of Canada. In 2019 she was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. She is a proud member of the LGBTQ2S+ community and is married to theatre director, Alisa Palmer, with whom she has two children.
