Arun Lakra
Arun Lakra is an New Delhi born Canadian playwright. His play Sequence won the Betty Mitchell Award, the Calgary Theatre Critics Award, the Joanne Woodward/Paul Newman Award for Drama, the Gwen Pharis Ringwood Drama Prize from the Writer’s Guild of Alberta, and the Alberta Playwriting Competition Grand Prize. Sequence was also long-listed for the James Tait Black Prize for Drama from the University of Edinburgh and the National Theatre of Scotland, and shortlisted for the STAGE International Script Competition. His play Heist had its World Premiere at Vertigo Theatre in Calgary in 2024 and was a finalist for the Betty Mitchell Award and Calgary Theatre Critics Award for Outstanding New Play. Heist is scheduled for production at the Grand Theatre in London and the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton in 2025. Arun is a University of Toronto trained eye surgeon, and he lives in Calgary with his wife and two kids.
