Janet Kish

Janet Kish is a Toronto-based playwright, educator, director, and dramaturg who has spent a lifetime chasing the unpredictable magic of live theatre. As a young drama teacher, she often struggled to find scripts that were both relevant and challenging for her students—so she began writing her own. Over the years, her original works were widely produced and regularly showcased at both the Toronto and Provincial levels of the Sears Ontario Drama Festival.

In 2011, shortly before retiring from teaching, she and her students took their acclaimed play The Dreamcatchers to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her other works of note include The Green Harvest, The Kiss, The Delightful Chaos of Mistila and the Motlies, and 1969.

Beyond the page and studio, Janet is a sought-after theatre adjudicator and has served twice on the Dora Mavor Moore Awards jury, contributing her insight and passion to the broader theatrical community.
