Kate Jaimet is a playwright, author, journalist and screenwriter, whose plays combine witty dialogue with biting social commentary. Her contemporary farce Mixed Doubles was a finalist in the 2025 Austin Film Festival Scriptwriting Competition and a quarterfinalist in the 2025 Scriptwriters & Co. International Festival. Praised by the Austin judges as “a stage play with Shakespearean heart and whimsical foolery set in the modern day with charming characters, well-contrived sarcasm, and a welcome twist on a classic tale,” it has been produced in several theatres across Canada. Her comedy The Royal Flush, performed in Ottawa in 2019, was extolled by critics for “the banter, the zingers, and the little double takes and silent stares … a very relatable North of Sudbury experience.” Her short plays Workplace Wellness and The Office of Threats to Western Civilization have been produced in festivals as far afield as New Zealand, Dubai, Australia, and the Philippines. Kate lives and works in Ottawa.
