Born in the UK and raised in Alberta, Kate is a multi-award winning actor, playwright, director and teaching artist. Her plays The Last Wife, The Virgin Trial, and Mother’s Daughter all premiered at the Stratford Festival and enjoyed subsequent runs at Toronto’s Soulpepper Theatre. The Last Wife was nominated for the Carol Bolt Award in 2015. The Virgin Trial won the Carol Bolt Award and was a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award in 2017. Kate translated and adapted Cyrano de Bergerac for the 2019 Shaw Festival season, with an encore presentation in 2021. Kate adapted Oscar Wilde’s stories for children, Wilde Tales, for the Shaw Festival in 2017. Kate’s plays have had over 30 productions across Canada, in the U.S., and as far away as Sydney, Australia and Glasgow, Scotland. The Last Wife has been translated into French by award winning translator, Maryse Warda.
