Rex Deverell
Rex Deverell was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1941 and raised in Orillia, Ontario. He was the resident playwright at the Globe Theatre in Regina, Saskatchewan from 1975 to 1990 and has been resident playwright at the Blyth Festival, University of Windsor, as well as Associate Artist for Mixed Company Theatre in Toronto.
Deverell has written over sixty produced scripts for theatre and media – ranging from libretti for opera, young audience pieces, history docu-dramas, cabaret entertainments, and political satires.
His award winning play Boiler Room Suite has won international attention, been the basis for opera, and has been translated into Japanese and performed in Tokyo.
He is a life member of The Playwrights Guild of Canada and The Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre.
