Lauren Brotman

Lauren Brotman is an award-winning actor/creator originally from South Africa, recently moving to Calgary from Toronto. She is A.D. of indie hit company B2C. She was part of the Dora Award winning Ensemble/Creators of ‘And By the Way Miss‘ (URGE/Theatre Direct). Dora Nominations: The Grace Project: SICK! (w/ Judith Thompson), Isitwendam (B2C, Native Earth, Talking Stick, TNW, RMTC). Also with B2C: Phaedra’s Lust (Tapestry New Opera), Jenny’s Room (workshop with Canadian Stage, The Grand, Factory); Painting the Streets (TNW Innovation Series), Shakespeare Unfolded (TNW). Devised work: Theatre Revolve, Alameda, Pleiades, Canadian Stage, Toronto Film School. She received the Jessica Fraser Award (Outstanding Contributions to TYA). Her new play (TBA) has received development through Handsome Alice, Studio 180 and Prairie Theatre Exchange. She has performed across Canada and abroad. Acting Awards: Christopher Plummer Fellowship Award (Shakespeare’s Globe/U.K.), Dora Award, Hedda Noir (Artist of the Year), Betty Nomination (Outstanding Lead, Drama).
