Née au Congo, Tatiana Zinga Botao a grandi à Bruxelles avant d’emménager au Québec. Adulte, elle découvre qu’elle partage son nom avec une reine qui a régné au XVIIe siècle sur un vaste territoire africain. Seule sur scène, l’artiste reconstitue le fil ancestral qui la relie à son aïeule tout en suivant le triangle Congo- Belgique-Canada qu’elle a elle-même parcouru.

Écrit à six mains par Alexis Diamond, Marie Louise Bibish Mumbu et Tatiana Zinga Botao, Nzinga dépeint une posture fière et digne de l’exil. Avec la complicité de la metteuse en scène française d’origine congolaise Albertine M. Itela, les créatrices entreprennent de raconter à leur façon leurs propres histoires, tout en partageant leur désir de voir les femmes occuper des postes d’influence et de pouvoir.

Born in the Congo, Tatiana Zinga Botao grew up in Brussels before moving to Quebec. As an adult, she discovers that she shares her name with a queen who ruled over a vast African territory in the 17th century. Alone on stage, the artist retraces the ancestral thread that connects her to her namesake while following the Congo-Belgium-Canada triangle she herself has traveled.

Co-written by Alexis Diamond, Marie Louise Bibish Mumbu, and Tatiana Zinga Botao, Nzinga portrays exile as a stance of pride and dignity. With the collaboration of French-Congolese director Albertine M. Itela, the creators set out to tell their own stories in their own way, while sharing their vision of a world where women take their rightful place in positions of influence and power.
