About the Playwrights:
Cathie Young is an awarding winning local playwright and director and a founding member of EETC. She lives in Port Coquitlam and enjoys, writing, painting, singing and accompanying her dogs for daily walks along the beautiful dykes and trails of the unceded ancestral and traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples; locally the Kwikwetlem, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Stó:lō First Nations.
Jo Clifford is a playwright, performer, proud father, grandmother, queer church elder and saint. She is one of Scotland’s leading playwrights, and the author of 114 plays in every dramatic medium. She is also well known as a translator from Spanish, French and Portugues. Her Gospel According to Jesus Queen of Heaven has been translated into 7 languages and seen in every continent in the world. Her in 2022, her Light in the Village was recently translated into Urdu and performed in Karachi; in March this year she was in Manila to see the same play translated into Tagalog.
Last August she performed a new piece, A Journey to the Quiet Place, in St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh, as part of the Edinburgh Fringe; this year she will perform another with the cathedral bellringers, called Ringing Out to Save the World.
She also performed The Gospel in the cathedral; after performing her in Iona Abbey, around the US, and the UK, in Manila and in churches in Sydney and Melbourne. She was in Melbourne this January for the opening of her new play, Thirty Six, co written with Bayley Turner and produced by Bullet Heart Club, Midsumma and Fortyfive Downstairs.
