Todd Devonshire is a Saskatchewan based playwright based out of Martensville. His first play he wrote and produced was called Monday Night and told of the events of December 8, 1980- the night John Lennon was murdered in New York City. The play was nominated for two SATAwards- Outstanding Original Script and Outstanding Supporting Performance by Bruce McKay. His latest play, The Boat, tells the story of Carmen and Jane, two doctors in the 1960s, who have set up a boat clinic off the coast of Nova Scotia, in international waters, and under the flag of a country in which abortion is not a crime. There, they offer pregnant women a safe environment in which to make a choice. But not everyone who boards the boat is telling the truth. Todd is currently writing two other plays, but cannot figure out which one to finish first.
