Alicia Payne

Alicia Payne is a multidisciplinary storyteller and former president of Playwrights Guild of Canada. Memberships also include ACTRA, CAEA, and Dramatists Guild of America. Alicia’s work has been presented in festivals and conferences including: Toronto Fringe Festival; Atlanta Black Theatre Festival; Garland Lee Thompson, Sr. Readers’ Theatre of New Work at the National Black Theatre Festival (USA); and Valdez Theatre Conference (Alaska). Practice expansion includes: The Gros Morne Playwrights Residency; A Room of Her Own (AROHO) Retreat; Theatre Passe Muraille Playwrights Collective; Tapestry Opera Composer Librettist Laboratory; and BIPOC TV & Film Writing for Kids TV Incubator. Alicia’s participation in group art exhibitions includes the Toronto For Everyone Honest 6ix Artist Residency and Canadian Forces Artist Program Exhibition, Diefenbunker Museum, Group 6. Alicia is an artist educator and Metcalf Foundation adaptive facilitator. Alicia narrated the audiobook Flower Diary by Molly Peacock and is a cofounder of Arbez Drama Projects (https://www.arbezdrama.com).
