Originally from the Anishinaabe territory Bawating (Sault Ste. Marie, ON), Neil is a settler playwright, designer and producer based in Mohkinstsis (Calgary, AB) in Treaty 7 territory. Often described as quirky, comical, and absurd, his plays include: Outside, Anomaly, Security, Last Christmas, The After Party and He Said, She Said (Lunchbox Theatre), John Doe/Jack Rabbit (Ground Zero & FireBelly Theatre) and Honesty, Gnomes, and The Princess and the Pea-Brain (Two Sheds Theatre Troupe). He has contributed to devised works; Arms Length Embrace (Downstage), O’Kosi and Indians & Cowboys (Making Treaty 7). He has written several plays for students; Lumps, Shakespeare’s Top Diva, Hero Squares and Shakespeare’s Bachelor; and two K-6 opera librettos with Calgary Opera; Under The Bed and The Moon Between. Neil is a former Board President of Alberta Playwrights Network, and a past Regional Council Representative for Alberta with the Playwrights Guild of Canada.
