Hanlon Uafás-Álainn was born in Halifax/Kjipuktuk and earned a theatre degree from Dalhousie University. He lives and works between Nova Scotia and Toronto. Hanlon is a queer Disabled trans man, father, and feminist. Hanlon’s plays include Unexpectedly Trans, Bubble Trans Pride, Inherited Beliefs, and Real Me. Works in progress are April’s Story and Liminal idEntities. Hanlon’s playwriting has received support from the Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, Lush Cosmetics, Nightwood Theatre, Roseneath Theatre, and Tangled Art + Disability.

In 2023, Hanlon was nominated for the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize and his work was published in This is Beyond: A Time Capsule of Queer Experience, Edited by Evan Tsitsias and Bilal Baig.

A wholehearted champion of trans stories, Hanlon has also worked with Under the Bus Collective to write and produce several films that have been official selections, semi-finalists, or winners in festivals here in Turtle Island and abroad.
