Winnipeg-born playwright and actor Kevin Longfield earned a degree in Machanical Engineering and worked in the field until his passion for theatre took over. He then earned a theatre degree at the University of Winnipeg. His play, Going Down the River, was an honourable mention in the Writer’s Digest magazine and appeared in the anthology Canadian Mosaic: 6 plays.
During the pandemic he completed four full-length plays: We Are Family, which was a quarter-finalist in the Screencraft Cinematic Stage Play contest. An excerpt of Prospects and Pigeon Pie had a staged reading at the Little Lion Theatre in the UK. Shafted had a Craft Bites reading. Maggie’s Will grew out of a one-act Fringe play, Blizzard, produced at the Winnipeg Fringe.
Besides his playwriting activities, Kevin has served on the board of two PACT comanies and produced independent theatre for Theatre Anywhere. He has also written about theatre, as the Winnipeg correspondent for Theatrum Magazine and the Author of From Fire to Flood, a history of Manitoba theatre.
