Miriam Laurence

Miriam Laurence coaches, trains, and directs actors. She has adapted classic plays by Chekhov, Ibsen, Strindberg, Erdman, Sartre and Brecht in order to make them more relatable and accessible to the actors she trains.

Miriam trained at New York’s Circle-in-the-Square Theatre School with Madeleine Sherwood and with the legendary Lee Strasberg in his Master Class. She worked and observed at The Actors Studio East and West and was a member of the Playwright/Director Unit. She has an MA in Theater Arts from UCLA and an MFA from York University. Miriam teaches her acting system at her studio in Toronto. She has directed several plays in Toronto and has written, produced, directed and edited seven short films. Her most recent short, Magic Madeleines, was an Official Selection at film festivals around the world including LA Skins. She is currently writing and developing two feature films and a play.
