Alison Kelly is an award winning playwright best known for being part of the Mom’s the Word collective that wrote the internationally acclaimed Mom’s The Word, and its sequels, Mom’s The Word: Unhinged, Mom’s The Word: Nest Half Empty and Mom’s The Word: Talkn’ Turkey. To date, Mom’s The Word has been produced in more than 15 countries and translated into more than 10 languages. Alison was awarded a commendation from the BBC in their 2023 international radio play competition for her adaption of her play, How To Survive a Fall Through The Ice, and won a special merit award in Theatre BC’s 2023 National Playwriting Competition and the 2024 Sybil Cook award in Ottawa Little Theatre’s National Playwriting Competition for her first play for young audiences, Inch by Inch. Other plays include, Conversations With My Mother (Co-written with S. Kaser/produced by The Gateway Theatre) and The Day Before Christmas (Co-written with S. Kaser/produced at the Arts Club Theatre). Alison is based in North Vancouver on the lands of the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
