Kathy France is a playwright, director, actor and theatre educator living in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Originally from Winnipeg, Kathy spent 17 years making theatre in Syria, Trinidad, Thailand, Yugoslavia, Croatia and Nepal. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Caravan Theatre.
Her plays include Fish and Dicks: Case Files from the Digby Neck & Islands Fish-Gutting Service & Detective Agency (nominated for a 2024 Merritt award for Outstanding New Nova Scotia Adaptation), Salome Seen, Captain of My Ship, DanceHer Story, Look at Me, Expat Edge and Robyn Crusoe. Kathy is also the author of numerous sketch comedy pieces featured in Comedy Caravan: Where the Skit Hits the Fans.
Adaptations include A Child’s Christmas in Wales, The Little Prince, and The Adventures of Frog and Toad.
Kathy loves performer-led collaborative devising with multidisciplinary artists and co-created Xpat Blue and, for the Kalakar Trust in India, Magic & Dancing Dolls, and Dil Se Drum Se.
She enjoys writing spoken word performance pieces, and is currently working on a creative non-fiction travel memoir.
