Laura Anne Harris is a writer/performer/director, born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, now residing in Vancouver, Washington. Her works have toured across the world. Laura trained at the University of Victoria’s Acting program and graduated in 2007. She also holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the School of Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia.

Laura wrote and starred in Pitch Blond at the 2007 Victoria Fringe Festival, where she won the Critic’s Choice Award for ‘Best Fringe Production.’ She then performed this production to a sold-out run across Canada between 2008-11. Pitch Blond was one of the top-grossing shows featured at Toronto’s Next Stage Theatre Festival (Jan. 2013). It toured to the Ware Center in Lancaster, PA (2015), and the Toronto Center for the Arts (2017).

Laura’s first full-length play, Red/Rouge, had its international debut in Bangkok, Thailand, at the IF Festival and had a professional workshop reading at Vancouver’s Touchstone Theatre (Dec. 2019).

Laura’s most recent solo show, Destiny, USA, toured the Canadian Fringe circuit to Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, Victoria, and Vancouver Fringe festivals. It was listed as one of the best shows of 2019 by Fresh Sheet. Destiny, USA, was part of Victoria’s Belfry Theatre Spark Festival season via digital performance, through the Canada Performs series hosted by the National Theatre of Canada. Laura was privileged to be part of Pi Theatre’s Provocateur Series (Feb. 2022), and in September 2023, she performed at the Sunset Theatre in Wells, BC.

Acting Guardian, her first screenplay, was nominated for a Cayle Chernin Media Development Award, and an early script draft made it through the Second Round at the 2023 Austin Film Festival Feature Script Competition.
