David Fennario

David Fennario (1947–2023) is best known for Balconville (1979), his bilingual dramatization of life in working-class Montreal. Widely considered Canada’s first bilingual play, the award winning Balconville toured all over Canada and internationally. Fennario also had 16 plays professionally performed over nearly five decades, works that were deeply influenced by his social activism and a deep love for the Verdun/Pointe-St.Charles neighbourhoods that he called home.
