Dorothy Dittrich
Dorothy Dittrich was born and raised in Vancouver. Her play, The Piano Teacher, won the 2022 Governor General’s Literary Award for English speaking drama. It was a Silver Commission and winner of the Jessie Richardson Award. Other plays include The Dissociates, Lesser Demons (Shortlisted for the PGC Comedy Award) Family Channel, If the Moon falls and Two Part Invention. Dorothy is also a composer and sound designer. She is the writer and composer of the book/lyrics and music for When We Were Singing – a sung through musical. When We Were Singing has received multiple Jesse Richardson Awards and Dora Mavor Moore nominations. Dorothy has also been Writer-in-Residence at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre in Toronto and is the recipient of the Sidney J. Risk Award for Emerging Playwright. Dorothy lives on Vancouver Island.
